Georgia Aquarium

Georgia’s newest famous attraction is the award-winning Georgia Aquarium, more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water making it the largest in the world! The specially designed whale shark habitat alone has 6.3 million gallons of water and is the single largest aquarium habitat in the world. Gifted to the community by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus and his wife, the non-profit educational phenomenon opened debt-free and in less than 2 years has welcomed over 6 million global visitors. Featuring the largest collection of many giant fish and sharks in any aquarium, it is also the only outside of Asia to house whale sharks, and the only one in the US to provide a home to the manta ray, the largest of all rays. Beluga whales, sea and river otters, penguins, and an active coral reef are just a few of the fantastic creatures you will be able to see (and touch!) as you are self-guided through several region-specific exhibits (behind the scenes tours are also available). A 4-D theatre, cafe, and the next-door attraction World of Coca-Cola make this an unforgettable event for everyone in the family.
